Juneteenth | A Day of Service
As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we’ve added two annual celebrations to our calendar – Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, which commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the US, and Martin Luther King Day – to utilize as days of service, where we can come together as a team and give back to our local communities.
This year, our Miami team joined the Mino Learning Collaborative, a grassroots organization in South Florida created to support and empower BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) educators and students in the greater Miami area, to assist them in their collaborative effort with the Green Haven Project, a non-profit organization with a focus on creating community gardens and sustainable eco-systems in areas that are predominantly known as food deserts. The team spent the day helping to beautify the garden and learning how to build their very own Bokashi composting system.
