Egis’ Architecture Line Opens New London Campus
The renowned multidisciplinary engineering and operations company, Egis, has opened new studios in London, UK. The shared workplaces are designed to foster collaboration and design innovation. The establishment of the Egis’ Architecture Line follows the recent merger of international architecture practice 10 Design with SB Architects and Egis’ acquisition of Weston Williamson + Partners in 2022.
The Egis’ Architecture Line was officially launched at leading international real estate event, MIPIM, on 15th March. It brings together world-leading architecture and design practices, Weston Williamson + Partners, 10 Design, SB Architects, and U+A to work alongside engineers to transform their vision into reality. The Architecture Line has been established to facilitate creative synergy and collaboration across sectors to provide a holistic approach to urban design, architecture and engineering, in order to address the challenges of urbanisation and climate change.
The new London campus is located adjacent to Weston Williamson + Partners’ existing studio near Waterloo Station, enabling the practice to expand into new space to accommodate and deliver a growing transport portfolio. The London campus also enables 10 Design to expand its London design team and continue to strengthen its presence in the UK, leading the design of world class mixed-use projects. SB Architects, headquartered in San Francisco, has a growing design team in London, focusing on significant hospitality projects. The campus allows both 10 Design and SB Architects to foster closer collaboration with their respective London-based clients, providing a streamlined and effective design process for ongoing and new projects across Europe and the MENA region.
“Weston Williamson + Partners joined Egis in March 2022 and the relationship is already allowing us to extend our design approach to deliver high quality work in new regions and cities across the globe.
Being part of the Architecture Line allows us to develop our specialisms of urban transport, Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and infrastructure design, most recently demonstrated by the Elizabeth Line in London, as part of a holistic and sustainable approach to city making.
The twin global challenges of urban transformation and climate change can only be resolved by effective collaboration between government and development partners. A fully inter-disciplinary collaboration to design between architects, engineers and specialists is an important component of this approach.”
Rob Naybour, CEO at Weston Williamson + Partners
“10 Design’s growing presence in London is key to the expansion of our London campus, which is set to become a design powerhouse enabling greater collaboration with SB Architects, Weston Williamson + Partners and Egis. It marks a pivotal point in our growth and further enhances our design capability alongside our well-established Edinburgh studio.
In recent years, 10 Design has gained tremendous success through collaborating with our London-based clients on projects in the UK, Europe and MENA. The three signature practices have already been partnering on several landmark opportunities in the UK, US, and MENA and the London campus will further strategically broaden our synergy and collaboration together.”
Chris Jones, Managing Principal at 10 Design
“It’s been a great privilege to spearhead the first SB Architects studio outside of the Americas. With an impressive roster of projects already underway, London is the perfect place for us to expand our footprint. Establishing this new studio within the greater Egis campus is instrumental for SB Architects’ strategic growth markets in the region. It signifies our commitment to the region and enhances our capability to support our clients, and collaborators, both within the Egis Group and externally.
It is exciting to be part of a wider campus community that integrates 10 Design and Weston Williamson + Partners, who work across a wide range of different projects and industry segments. The Architecture Line’s complementary and synergistic culture, expertise, and geographic footprints create a community that promotes collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation.”
