10th Annual Bike to Hope
SB Architects has been a proud supporter of Bike to Hope for the past two decades, and we have proudly sponsored for the past eight years. Supported by the Northern California Real Estate & Construction Council (NCREC), Bike to Hope is designed to raise vital funds in support of the incredible City of Hope. City of Hope is a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.
“Our philanthropic efforts have grown organically from our values, both the event and cause fit our values and passions. Through our continued support and participation in Bike to Hope, we hope to increase optimism and interest in health and wellness, and in life-enhancing efforts by organizations like City of Hope.””
For the seventh year in a row, we assembled a team of SB riders from both our Miami and San Francisco offices, to complete the Bike to Hope cycle and, ultimately, raise money for this crucial cause.
This year’s event was a mix of virtual and live. The live event took place on Friday October 15, from Penngrove Park, and the virtual ride ran the entire weekend, with riders choosing their own route, distance, and speed.
Camilo Carrillo, Tiffany Montañez, Glen Santayana, Jason VanBruaene, and Brooke Azumi completed the virtual ride. Harris Christiaansen, Akiko Yoshikawa, and Daniel Bocanegra tackled and successfully completed the 50k course, and Scott Lee, Bruce Wright, took on the grueling 100k course, which includes a grueling 3,850 vertical feet of climbing.
Camilo Carrillo spent the day in the Californian East Bay, completing a 31.1-mile loop from Dublin.
Tiffany and Glen cycled Miami, starting at Coral Way, through Key Biscayne and the Historic Overtown, before finishing in Little Havana.
“Bike to Hope has continuously been an event the SB team looks forward to and this year’s hybrid model was no different. We’re both glad to have the opportunity to partake in Bike to Hope for the second time and look forward to participating in the wonderful cause for future years to come!”
Jason, Brooke, and their son, Leiden, took to the streets of Seattle for a cultural day.
“We biked to the library and got our son’s first library card, before heading for a spam musubi (Hawaiian) and Vietnamese iced coffee, before ending the day at a Mexican food truck.”
In its tenth year, Bike to Hope had 300 riders who participated and raised a whopping $183,200, 8k over target!!!, to support the City of Hope. All funds raised will fuel groundbreaking research, administer compassionate care for patients, and continue to provide hope where it’s needed most.
