We’re thrilled and honored to reveal that Portola Valley House, California has been presented with the Grand Award for ‘Best Custom Home, 4,000-6,000 sqft’ in PCBC’s 2020 Gold Nugget Awards. Winners this year were chosen from 575 entries from around the world.
Now in its 57th year, the Gold Nugget Awards is the largest and most prestigious competition of its kind in the nation. Selected by a panel of top industry experts and presented virtually on July 24th, the awards showcase the most exciting trends in design, planning, and building.
“This was a special project for a dynamic client and top design and construction teams. I remember driving down and meeting our clients, talking to them about how spectacular the site was, and how we could integrate the architecture in a way that celebrates all of that. It’s a beautiful home and one of my favorite parts of the project was developing such a strong relationship with our clients. We spent a lot of time getting to know them, learning about their daily rituals, and how we could design a home that met and exceed their vision for the project,” said Bruce Wright, Senior Vice President and Principal, SB Architects.
“Our clients trusted us, and I was so happy we could deliver and exceed their expectations. Receiving this accolade, alongside hearing our clients express their love and gratitude for the space we created is incredible! I would like to add a special thanks to my colleagues; EunJoo Cho, Mickey Mazerac, and Akiko Yoshikawa; for all their passion and work in bringing this project to life,” added Wright, “This project was a collective undertaking and we would like to share this recognition with the respective design teams; Lorissa Kim, Thuilot Associates, and Ryan Associates; for their collaborative spirit that allowed us to create a truly unique residence that celebrated the indoor/outdoor experience.”
