Jamie MacNichol | AIA Miami Emerging Professional of the Year
We are thrilled to announce that our very own Jamie MacNichol has been honored with the title of ‘Emerging Professional of the Year’ at the 2023 AIA Miami Design Awards.
“It is an honor to be selected as Emerging Professional of the Year and be recognized by the architecture community. I am very appreciative of the continued support from both SB and the AIA Miami.”
Despite only being with SB Architects for a short amount of time, Jamie has become an invaluable member of the team through his level of professionalism, thoughtfulness, communication skills, and innovative approach.
Jamie’s award was accepted by Tiffany Montañez, Associate & Project Manager at SB Architects.
Jamie has been involved in the architectural community throughout both his academic and professional career. He became involved in the AIA during his studies, where he served on the Virginia Tech AIA Board as Treasurer, Vice President, and then President. Post-graduation, he served on the AIA DC Emerging Architects Committee, the AIA Northern Virginia Schools Connection Committee, and the Northern Virginia Young Architects Forum. Before moving on to become the Vice Chair of the Young Architects Forum in 2019.
Jamie, serving as the Chair of the AIA Miami Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC), joined forces with SB Architects to host an exclusive AIA Miami Office Crawl at our Coral Gables office.
As an advocate for professional development, networking, and leadership training, Jamie is passionate about creating opportunities for emerging and aspiring architects, helping them gain new perspectives to grow into future leaders of the profession. This attitude secured him the role of Chair of the AIA Miami Emerging Professionals Committee (EPC), with a term running through 2024. He’s an invaluable conduit between the Miami office and local AIA Miami events, and regularly organizes industry-related events for the committee.
His talent, dedication, and ability to think on his feet have led to him working on many of SB Architect’s Miami office’s key projects. He brings a high level of skill, organization, and clarity of communication to projects that is essential to successful design collaborations. He is also strongly committed to firmwide philanthropic and JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion)-focused initiatives, actively participating in our recruiting and community outreach efforts.
